MVP Scope Template

Write your one-page scope

Answer each prompt in a sentence or a few lines. Skip any you can't answer yet; the document builds as you type.

A working name is fine.

Who has it, and how they deal with it today.

One line per type of user, with what they need to do.

The steps of the one journey version one must get right.

Only what the core flow can't work without.

Good ideas that can wait. Writing them down stops the scope from creeping.

One number to check a month after launch.

Deadline, budget range, systems it must connect to, rules it must follow.

What you still need to decide or find out.

Your answers are saved in this browser only, so you can come back to them. Nothing is sent to us.

What makes a good MVP scope

Most MVPs grow late and over budget because version one tries to do everything. A good scope is short, and says no on purpose.

  1. One problem, one user, one flow

If version one serves two audiences, it serves neither well. Pick the journey that proves the idea.

  2. Write down what waits

The "not in version one" list is the most useful part. It turns every new idea into a later decision, not a delay.

  3. Choose the number before you build

Decide how you'll judge it a month after launch, so the first release answers a question.

Ready to build version one?

Bring your scope. We'll design and build it as production-ready code you keep building on, at a fixed price.
